UK Premiere - Thursday, 22nd July at the Ritzy, Brixton.
Coz Ov Moni is the first ever pidgen musical, starring the FOKN Bois (Wanlov the Kubolor, a truly refreshing artist who travels the world barefoot wearing his trademark wrap skirt, and the Channel O multi-nominated M3nsa, a singer/songwriter/producer, one of the most respected Hiplife pioneers today).
Coz Ov Moni is the story of an extraordinary day in the life of two ordinary young men in a 21st century Africa. Expressed entirely in music and rhyme, the film captures the exuberance, energy and rhythm of the urban African, using choreography and color to enrich the story in great detail. This film takes an innovative approach, combining the lyrical art of the wordsmith with art house cinematography, giving it an unprecedented dynamic intensity as the audience is spun into a web of comedy, dramatic action and dance.
Story Synopsis
On a normal morning in Gbese, Accra. The FOKN Bois wake up and plan to go clubbing with some lady friends after chasing an evasive debtor for their money. Little do they know that their free-spirited and seemingly conceited attitude will make them a few enemies as the day progresses. How will this day end for the FOKN Bois? Do they deserve what awaits them at the end of it all?
Cameos by a host of artists including Reggie Rockstone, the godfather and original maestro of Hiplife, and Samini, the MTV & MOBO award winner, as well as rising stars like Mutombo & Macho Rapper make this film a must see.
Pidgen is the de facto language used whenever West Africans congregate as it transcends language barriers. It is sometimes expressed as Broken English (former English colonies) or Creole (former French colonies) across the Globe.
