A remake of the 1984 war drama set during the dawn of World War III in which a group of mid-western America teenagers band together to defend their town, and their country, from invading Soviet forces.
The remake will follow a similar plot thread telling the story of a group of teenagers who form an impromptu insurgency when their town is invaded by Chinese and Russian soldiers.
Whatever happened to the Red Dawn remake? Did it get imprisoned in a concentration camp where it was lectured about the error of it's capitalist ways? Well, sort of.
It seems the film's cinematic delay was caused by MGM's bankruptcy issues and with that behind the company it's now being released for good behaviour.
Independent studio FilmDistrict has struck a deal with MGM to release Red Dawn in 2012, so not too long to wait now.
The delay has had one unusual effect: the cast suddenly looks a lot more stellar than it did three years ago.
Red Dawn now features The Avengers and Thor star Chris Hemsworth, G. I. Joe 2's Adrienne Palicki, Immortals actress Isabel Lucas, Shark Night 3D's Alyssa Diaz and The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson.
