Concept art shows alternative Deathly Hallows ending [31st January 2012 18:00:00]

Whilst the 3D presentation of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 wasn't to everyone's taste, there can be little argument that Voldemort's death scene benefitted from the technology, particularly when the confetti effect blew his smoking remains into the spellbound audience.

However, that great death scene could have been a little darker, at least according to a new set of production stills released by concept artist Andrei Riabotvitchev.

The new images show Voldemort suffering a Raiders Of The Lost Ark style face melt, in a scene that was presumably considered too gruesome for the younger members of the audience.

Another alternative ending shows Voldemort going the way of Cate Blanchett in Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. That's what happens to people who reach for too much power, you see...

We were always fairly happy with the way David Yates elected to wrap up the franchise, but it's interesting to note that more adult conclusions were considered. Old snake-features is dead though, which is of course the main thing. Source: www.totalfilm.com

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 deleted scene online [24th November 2011 00:00:00]

If you are upset that the Harry Potter films have come to an end, a deleted scene might cheer you up.

The scene shows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they plan to break into Bellatrix Lestrange's vault in Gringotts, the Wizard's bank, hunting for the horcrux hidden inside.

Harry tries to calm the nerves of his best friends by assuring them that he will know exactly what the horcrux is when he is inside the vault, and the trio show off the fact they developed into pretty decent actors over the course of eight movies.

Hallows Part 2 is third biggest-grossing film of all-time [10th August 2011 09:17:54]

The final chapter of the Harry Potter franchise has earned a total of $1.137 billion globally, bringing it in at third place on the list of highest grossing films of all time.

The figure should make the movie 2011's most successful film by a comfortable margin.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 shattered the opening weekend record, taking $483.2m worldwide and currently sits behind James Cameron's Avatar ($2.78 billion) and Titanic ($1.84 billion) in the little under a month that it's been in cinemas.

Although it's unlikely that the Potter finale will surpass either film anytime soon, fans are still ker-chinging through the box-office ? many for a second or third viewing.

All the Potter films have been commercial hits, with the second most successful ? Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone (2001) ? trousering $974.8m in global box-office (over 7 times its budget).

Even the series' lowest performer ? Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban (2004) pulled in $796.7m from a budget of around $130m.

Warner Bros have confirmed they will be launching an Oscar campaign for Hallows Part 2, hoping that the series will follow in the footsteps of Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, which scooped up a total of eleven Oscars ? including Best Picture ? at the 2003 ceremony, following the final film's release. Harry Potter casts his final spell over the US box office [18th July 2011 10:06:15]

Harry Potter went out with a bang this weekend ? the boy wizard's last ever movie outing smashed box office records as the film rolled out worldwide.

Stateside, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 earned a staggering $168m in its first weekend.

With that much cash being thrown at it, the final Harry Potter film even managed to top The Dark Knight's opening weekend record of $158m, creating a new record for the highest ever US opening weekend. Yes, ever.

Internationally, Deathly Hallows Part 2 took a further $75m, meaning its total global earnings are actually a Gringotts-busting $250m.

"What an incredible beginning for the movie that ends it all," says Warner domestic distribution president Dan Fellman.

"Everyone at Warner Bros joins me in congratulating the many people behind the Harry Potter films. We know this is just the start of what promises to be an astounding weekend and a magical summer." Source: www.totalfilm.com

First Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 image online [18th January 2011 10:02:55]

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 cast a fair spell over the world when it was released last November, scooping up quite a few pennies and critical kudos.

And it looks like the final instalment in the film franchise is set to be the series' most dramatic yet, if the first image from the film is to be believed.

Released via Cinema Blend, the pic shows student Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) caught up in the epic final battle at Hogwarts, where many a character bites the dust.

Not only is it a great tease for fans (especially of Neville), the image also features the always-brilliant Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange, hovering eerily in the background. Source: www.totalfilm.com
