Anchorman Ron Burgundy set to release his memoirs [15th August 2013]

As if Anchorman Ron Burgundy's ego wasn't inflamed enough, the Action 4 News anchor now has his own autobiography - in which he'll no doubt brag about his Emmys and name-drop like nobody's business.

Let Me Off At The Top!: My Classy Life And Other Musings is being published on 19 November 2013, almost a month to the day before Burgundy's second movie, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, hits screens.

"I don't know if it's the greatest autobiography ever written. I'm too close to the work," Burgundy said in a statement. "I will tell you this much: the first time I sat down and read this thing... I cried like a goddamn baby, and you can take that to the bank!"

Clearly having been inspired by Alan Partridge's own recent paperback success story, Burgundy's memoirs will reportedly include "personal anecdotes about the women in his life, about his dog, Baxter, and his legendary news team".

As if that wasn't enough, he'll also reveal just why he went into news reporting in the first place.

Nicole Kidman lined up for Anchorman 2 cameo [4th April 2013]

Anchorman: The Legend Continues has another A-list cameo lined up, with THR reporting that Nicole Kidman is set to make a brief appearance in the comedy sequel.

No word as yet regarding what her role will entail, but it's another big signing to back up Adam McKay's pledge to assemble "a murderer's row of the best day players ever".

The report goes on to claim that Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson are also in line to film a pair of walk-on parts, with Terrence Stamp, Gregg Kinnear and Kristen Wiig also reported to be involved.

One other big star set to make an appearance is Harrison Ford, who has been downplaying his involvement in deadpan fashion. "it'd be easy enough to cut out [my role], I don't think it's critical," he says, self-deprecatingly, before revealing his scene sees him star alongside, "what's-his-name and the applesauce girl." That'll be Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate then...Source: www.totalfilm.com

Harrison Ford signs on for Anchorman 2 [5th March 2013]

Anchorman: The Legend Continues has announced a major casting coup, with none other than Harrison Ford announced as the latest addition to the comedy ensemble.

THR reports that Ford has signed on to play a rival news anchor, one held in significantly more esteem than Ron Burgundy. Great Odin's raven!

It's looking like poor Ron is going to be up to his neck in competition second time out, with Ford lining up alongside James Marsden as the top news dogs in San Diego.

Kristen Wiig has also joined the production as a potential love interest for Steve Carell's character, Brick Tamland. And of course, all the old favourites from Channel 4 News will be present and correct.Source: www.totalfilm.com

James Marsden joins Anchorman 2 [22nd February 2013]

Anchorman: The Legend Continues has added another piece to its casting puzzle with the announcement that James Marsden has signed on to join the production.

Marsden will play an anchor for a rival news broadcaster, with his chiselled good looks making him an obvious nemesis for old-stager Ron Burgundy.

Marsden bagged himself a recurring role in the final two series of 30 Rock, and from what we've seen of his comic timing in that show, he looks a solid addition to Anchorman's growing ensemble.

Kristen Wiig recently signed on to play some love interest for Brick Tamland, while crucially, all the major players from the first movie have agreed to return.Source: www.totalfilm.com

Kristen Wiig signs on for Anchorman 2 [5th February 2013]

Anchorman 2 has added some more comedy firepower to its ensemble with the announcement that Kristen Wiig has officially joined the cast.

Director Adam McKay took to Twitter to confirm the news, and sounded suitably excited about securing the Bridesmaidsstar for the sequel.

"Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2," tweeted McKay (@GhostPanther).

"Cannonball!"

Details remain hazy as to who Wiig will be playing, but initial rumours have suggested she'll be love interest for Steve Carell's character, Brick Tamland.

Wiig's signing is a step in the right direction towards McKay achieving his goal of creating, "a murderer's row of the best day players ever... every single one-line or three-line role [will] just be someone we just love."Source: www.totalfilm.com
