Hans Van Nuffel's award-winning feature debut paints a portrait of a teenager living with cystic fibrosis. As this cruel genetic condition slowly destroys his lungs, 17-year-old Tom (Stef Aerts) responds in a very different way to his more stoic older brother and fellow sufferer Lucas (Maarten Mertens). Between regular visits to hospital, he falls in with a bunch of hoodlums whose life of petty crime provides a welcome distraction from his reduced life expectancy. But then he meets Xavier (Wouter Hendrickx), an older man with the same condition who has refused to let it beat him down. Inspired by Xavier's optimism and energy, he takes to roaming the hospital grounds and falls for fellow patient Eline (Anemone Valcke), who's quarantined after being exposed to TB. But tragedy is just around the corner. When it strikes, Tom seeks refuge with his old friends.
