Just Go With It beats Justin Bieber at box office [14th February 2011 00:48:15]
A torrent of new releases ripped into the US box office this weekend, with a quartet of new films bagging themselves the top four spots.
But it was Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler's new comedy Just Go With It that came out on top, proving that both still have pulling power in the industry by grabbing $31m.
Aniston even pipped young crooner Justin Bieber to the number one spot, the pint-sized pop star's movie debut Bieber: Never Say Never settling for second place ($30.3m).
Next up was ceramic comedy Gnomeo & Juliet in third ($25m) and Channing Tatum's historical drama The Eagle ($8.5m) in fourth, which rounded out the new releases. Leighton Meester's The Roomate plunged from first to third with $8.4m.
The rest of the top ten pretty much resembled last week's line-up, with The King's Speech in sixth ($7.4m), No Strings Attached in seventh ($5.6m), Sanctum floundering in eighth ($5.1m), True Grit in ninth ($3.7m) and The Green Hornet clinging on for life in tenth ($3.6m).
Next week it's sci-fi time with Alex Pettyfer's I Am Number Four, and action with Liam Neeson's Unknown... Source: www.totalfilm.com
