There were very high expectations for the sequel to what many would refer to as 'the' comedy of 2009.
The Hangover Part II must have done something right, as it is now the biggest R-rated comedy ever.
It opened three weeks ago in America, and has since experienced storming success at the worldwide box office.
The Hangover reached $467.5 million worldwide at the box office; only 3 weeks in and The Hangover Part II has reached $488.7 million worldwide.
Interestingly The Hangover Part II has taken more money internationally than it has domestically; impressive for any American film, especially a comedy.
The Wolfpack proved popular in the UK the second time around, taking £10,409,017 in its opening weekend, compared to the first instalment's £2,249,747.
Still going strong at the UK box Office: The Hangover Part II stands at number 2, beating X-Men: First Class into third place (and that one has been out for one week less than Hangover 2). Source: www.totalfilm.com
The Hangover Part II was one of this year's most highly-anticipated films, so it's no surprise that it climbed straight to the top of the US box office this weekend.
Taking $118m in just four days, the sequel understandably obliterated its predecessor's opening weekend of $44m, benefiting from an in-built audience and massive buzz.
Director Todd Phillips has already spoken about ideas for a trilogy-capping third Hangover, and with an opening weekend like that, we're sure the studio will be begging him to fast track it.
Kung Fu Panda 2 didn't fare quite as well in its opening weekend. Despite positive reviews, it took just $48m ? perhaps because all the kiddies' parents were too busy watching Hangover Part II to take them to the cinema.
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 held on at number three ($39m), while Bridesmaids dropped to four ($16m) and Thor closed out the top five with $9m.
Fast Five has now been in cinemas for five weeks, and proved staying power in sixth with $6.6m. Meanwhile, Woody Allen's Midnight In Paris jumped into the top 10 during its second week with $1.9m.
The rest of this week's box office consisted of more low-slugging holdovers, with Jumping The Broom in eighth ($1.9m), Something Borrowed in ninth ($1.8m) and Rio in tenth ($1.7m). Source: www.totalfilm.com
Liam Neeson's much publicised cameo has been cut from The Hangover: Part II.
Nick Cassavetes will now play the role of a Bangkok tattoo artist, originally destined for Mel Gibson.
After choosing to cut the proceeding scene, director Todd Phillips ordered a re-shoot but the busy Unknown star was unable to schedule it - having started filming the sequel to Clash of the Titans.
Talking to Variety, however, Phillips assured fans of the franchise that Cassavetes had "turned out great."
The film would have reunited Neeson with Bradley Cooper, after both starred in last year's reboot of The A-Team.
This news comes just hours after the comedy's theatrical trailer was pulled from US cinemas.
The spot quickly attracted complaints after a PG-13 audience were left shocked at scenes that included a monkey simulating sex with an elderly man.
Warner Bros, along with the Motion Picture Association of America, had apparently failed to vet the trailer properly.
All copies have since been destroyed, with a new one being cut to premiere alongside the upcoming Scream 4. Source: www.totalfilm.com
Hangover II director Todd Phillips has shot down rumours that Charlie Sheen and Bill Clinton will both be making cameos in the upcoming sequel.
"Somebody on some tiny little site made something up that said Charlie Sheen was in talks for Hangover 2 and then it gets picked up on every other site as a fact," an annoyed-sounding Phillips revealed to EW. "It's not true. It's so frustrating."
The director went on to add that Bill Clinton won't be appearing the film either, despite the former US president dropping by the set.
"He stopped by the set because the Secret Service guys were like, 'Hey, that would be fun on the way out of town to stop by a movie set,'" said Phillips. "But you can't control what somebody writes on the Internet."
So just who will be cameoing in Hangover II? We know Liam Neeson's pitching up as a tattoo artist, but who knows what else Phillips has up his sleeves. Source: www.totalfilm.com
Liam Neeson came to the rescue of The Hangover 2 last year when Mel Gibson's scheduled cameo appearance was spiked at the last minute.
Now, the A-Team star has spoken out about his time with the Hangover boys, and revealed it was an "intense" time.
"Oh, it was [fun], it was," he says. "It was pretty intense. I was only there for one day - a Sunday, as far as I remember.
"But it was good to be with Bradley Cooper - he's a buddy - and the other two gentlemen [Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis], I'd never met them before, but I love what they do."
Neeson will pitch up in the comedy sequel as an Irish tattoo artist living in Bangkok. He visited the film's central trio on the WB's California lot, where a Thai city set had been built.
The actor's compliments don't end there, as he adds that "the three of them ? reinvent the Three Stooges in a very funny way". Nice work if you can get it.

Bill Clinton, the former US president, must have been getting chummy with Arnold Schwarzenegger - it's the only way to explain his sudden interest in becoming a movie star. Either that or he just loves The Hangover. TMZ are reporting that the former first man of the United States has been snapped on the Hangover 2 set, where he's shot a cameo for the film. Clinton's visit follows both Liam Neeson and Paul Giamatti's trips to the Hangover 2 set, meaning that the rambunctious sequel should have its fair share of cameo gags. Clinton's trip to Thailand saw him sharing air with Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper (the former with a shaved head), and jumping into a rickshaw with them. Robert Downey Jr. has expressed an interest in appearing in The Hangover 2, though the star modestly admits "they can't afford me". After rumours were trounced of Mel Gibson making a Mike Tyson-style cameo in the booze-sozzled follow-up, Downey Jr. has revealed that he likes the idea of re-teaming with Zach Galifianakis, who he's just worked with on dramedy Due Date. "I'd love to work with Zach again, but I'm not going to go do a 'day' on his sequel. Let's not kid ourselves," he tells Extra. "Besides, they've had enough squabbles over their paltry salaries. They can't afford me." The Iron Man actor goes on to add that though the pair are "not very much alike, we do like each other". Hangover 3, eh Robbie? Source: www.totalfilm.com
Mr Mel Gibson - of alleged internet-leaked phone-swearing and Forever Young fame - has signed up to pop up in Todd Phillips' follow-up to his break-out Vegas booze-com. According to Page Six, the short-tempered star of anti-semitic controversy and Air America will pop up as a possibly deranged tattoo artist. Gibson is due to shoot his scenes on-set in Bangkok in the next couple of weeks. The sequel is set in the US and Thailand, with all the key players returning. Phillips' original featured a cameo from another star with a tainted image - Mike Tyson. But while Tyson just had to basically act like his lovable, frightening self in a loose-fitting white shirt, Gibson is faced with somehow igniting an all-out career reinvention.
