John Collee studied Medicine and History of Art in Edinburgh, Scotland, and subsequently worked as a doctor in the UK, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, the Solomon Islands and the former Soviet Union.
His published novels include Kingsley's Touch, Paper Mask (1990) and The Rig, all published by Penguin in the UK and USA
From 1991-96 he wrote a weekly column for The Observer Newspaper, UK.
Since moving to Sydney as a full time screenwriter he has collaborated with Aussie directors: Scott Hicks, Phil Noyce, George Miller, and Peter Weir. A fluent french speaker, he has collaborated on scripts with French directors Jean-Jacques Annaud, Christophe Gans, and Jacques Perrin.
Recent film projects include a film about the battleship Bismarck for Steven Spielberg a biopic of Charles Darwin with director Jon Amiel, a large-scale animation for director Zack Snyder ...and a script about a talking koala.
